Joella Nicole's Documentary Film
I'm happily working on a documentary film about my health journey and the importance of endurance sports in my life. The goal is to raise awareness of Endometriosis and encourage others impacted by the disease to live their fullest lives.
This is innately a personal story and I understand why there aren't more available. When Endo symptoms flare, it's debilitating. Life comes to a screeching hault on the bathroom floor. I'm grateful to have most of my symptoms in the past, and I want others to feel the relief that I am experiencing.
I'm working with the film crew at Deluth Productions to make the doc. We're running forested trails in Central Oregon and gravel roads in the Florida scrub. I'm talking to their cameras as if I were sharing thoughts in my journal. It's getting real. The film crew will be on-hand this fall as I make my fourth attempt at the Javalina Jundred in the Arizona desert. This one is for the record books.
Premiering Spring 2027
During her third attempt to complete the Javelina Jundred, psychotherapist and ultrarunner, Joella Nicole, must summon all she 's learned as therapist to get to the bottom of her mysterious cyclical illness.
After two surgeries and 29 years of living with endometriosis and adenomyosis, this relentless athlete returns for a 100-mile redemption run—and the chance to prove that chronic illness does not get the final word.
