About me

I was in a med tent at the Coyote Junction aid station on the Javelina Jundred-mile ultramarathon course. That’s where I found out that 29 years of birth control had not prevented my suspected endometriosis. A month later, I confirmed that I had Endometriosis and suspected Adenomyosis. My first surgery, in February of 2024, uncovered stage IV Endometriosis on my bladder, deep in my right hip, my right psoas, my appendix, and all over my abdominal wall. 

I opted for a conservative approach which left some disease around my left ovary and my uterus and all the Adenomyosis in it. Immediately after surgery my fatigue was gone, the chronic right hip pain was gone, my acne improved, the cyclical fevers and rashes that would cover my body three days before my period were gone. I was no longer sick every month with whatever the latest cold was being passed around. A year later, I called it quits on getting pregnant and scheduled a hysterectomy. It turns out, living with Adenomyosis was almost as brutal as the Endometriosis.

Now I am getting acquainted with a new life. One where I am healthy and pain-free every day. One where the Javalina desert beckons me again, for a third attempt at a 100-mile redemption run.
